Chevy Volt

Gas prices unnerved everyone during the middle part of this year when they reached a high of over $140 per barrel and gasoline at the pumps reached over $4.50 a gallon. This in turn made people drive a lot less than usual . Even though gas prices have come back down to reasonable costs people are very wary of gas prices for the future. Now our government has been talking about alternative energy fuels for cars for the last 50 years but until lately no one has been doing much about it. There are many estimates as to when we will run out of gasoline but for sure it seems like we will only run shorter in the future. This is why we need an alternative fuel car that will make a big change in our lives asap, and I think the Chevy volt could be that electrifying type of car.

There are many types of hybrid and cross hybrid vehicles available in this market and coming in the future but it seems like none have the potential that the Chevy volt has. The Chevy volt is an all electric car that can get up to 180 miles per gallon. The Chevy volt can last you for up to 40 miles of driving on a single charge from its big battery and the beauty of this is that most drivers don't really drive more than 40 miles per day in the city. Now with the charge taking about three hours to fully charge the battery up you can drive most of the day in the city and then come home and recharge the Chevy volt batteries from the comfort of your own home when you are sleeping. If you drive less than 40 miles per day you will be basically driving gasoline free. This may seem fantastic to you but it is even better for us as Americans and for our government in that we won't be dependent on foreign oil like we had been for the last 40 years. Another beautiful thing about this car is that it produces zero emissions when you're driving gas free so it is very good for the environment. This will also please the Green party and many pro-green people.

Now let's say you have a long trip planned and you want to use your Chevy volt. This is also no problem as the Chevy volt has a small gasoline engine that will actually help to recharge its electric batteries when they get depleted after the 40 mile range limit. The only negative here is that your miles per gallon average starts to go down but it is still in the 100 mile per gallon range so it still puts the Chevy volt way ahead in miles per gallon average than any other hybrid vehicle today. Everyone knows now that GM could be on the verge of bankruptcy. Although I don't like it when the government comes to the aid of any company I would be in favor of them bailing out GM as there is so much riding on the Chevy volt coming to market. The estimates on this vehicle coming to market from Chevrolet are that this will be ready for market by sometime in late 2010. If and when you select your car comes to market it will not only change the way we live our lives, but it will also free us from gasoline dependency and also change the foreign-policy of our government and its dependency on foreign countries for their gasoline resources.

The next two years are going to be very exciting years for Chevrolet if they could make this concept a reality and it will usher in a new age for us and not only the way we drive our car but in the way we protect our environment from gas emissions. With the Chevy volt the future never looked so bright for us. Start saving up your money folks because I know I'll be one of the first ones standing in line to place an order for the Chevy volt.
